As much as I like birds, (I feed them every morning in my back yard) I could,t begin to tell you what kind of bird this is. May be the bird was trying to tell you something. Sometimes they do and we just cannot connect. At home in Africa, we can tell what the birds are trying to tell us because we are in contact all the time.

I'm guessing it was the Mexican, or Gray-Breasted, Jay I saw yesterday afternoon, 8/26/09, along Mina Road,a dirt road, about 1.5 mi east of Hwy 89 south of Yarnell, AZ. It flitted across the road in front of me, showing it's colors, landing in a mesquite tree. As my car approached and I stopped for a look he flew, with a twig or meal in the beak, away and across the road again into a more concealing tree. Again I could see the blue-gray color. Could this Jay be in the desert south of Yarnell?
