Wehr Steel - July 2006

2 decades after the company closed, this site remains the largest piece of vacant land in West Allis. The tallest tree in the first photo (evergreen) is the very same tree that stood to the right (south) of the red brick office building, next to the ''L'' shaped pedestrian path (the tree can barely been seen in the old aerial). The walk (at the curb) in the first photo is also the same walk which lead to the office building. In it's time, Wehr steel was the 2nd largest steel foundary in the state of Wisconsin. Also, the roof of Miller Park; the brewers stadium, is barely visible in the 4th photo.
