Alberta Badlands

Drumheller, Alberta

The stone in the foreground is a "capstone." It is a harder sandstone than much of the material
underneath it. As the softer material erodes from around and underneath the capstone, it stays on top
and creates a "hoodoo." This one's hoodoo has completely eroded away from underneath and the capstone
has fallen to a new ground. Perhaps, one day, it will create a new hoodoo.
