While we were in Grand Teton NP, we decided to take the turn off to Cunningham Cabin to see what was
there. We really didn't know what to expect, but hoped to find a cabin at least. There is in fact a
cabin at the end of the short dirt road, but unfortunately it was closely surrounded by orange snow
fencing and was in the process of some maintenance work. There were a couple of fellows hand cutting
some replacement timbers for the cabin and if not for all the modern clutter of tools, a truck and
what not, it might had made for a few of good shots. Instead, we chose to follow this old rail fence
a ways. It was late afternoon and the light really wasn't the greatest on the mountains so we planned
to return again the next morning. Unfortunately for us, that night there was a very hard frost and
what color was left on the willow and other low brush in this valley was pretty much done in. I
really liked how the rails formed a nice S curve here so I did capture a shot that afternoon. Not
much color along this section of fencing however. I did take some other shots that afternoon showing
more of the colorful shrubs, but I liked this composition the best. So I have no morning shot from
this location...guess that's reason enough to go back again to see if Cunningham's cabin is again welcoming visitors.
Minor adjustments were made to the image in PSCS2 to tweak colors and contrast to reproduce the scene
as I remember it.
