While in California this past September, we spent a few days exploring and photographing Napa Valley.
Our first full day there, we headed out after an early breakfast. A thick fog enveloped the valley
that morning. Our waitress assured us that the fog would be gone by mid-morning, but neither of us was
so sure. As if on cue, the fog lifted just as the first winery came into view--and it turned
out to be a gorgeous day--better than we'd even hoped for. The first place we stopped at was Black
Stallion Winery--it appeared to be very new and wasn't even on our winery guide map. We pulled up
their driveway even though it obviously wasn't open to the public yet--we'd plead to being "dumb
foreign tourists" if anyone questioned our being there. No one came while we wandered around, but not
wanting to push our luck, we only stayed a few minutes for a couple of grab shots. I added a Gothic
Glow to this and I liked the effect, but the original is nice and works without the filter effect, too.
Comments and feedback always gratefully appreciated.
