There are one of these in the pond in my backyard. IT has been in the same spot for days. It just seems to be moving in small circles.

I found one of these on my driveway today. It's just over 1". I'm thinking of keeping it but not certain yet. I have everything I need for it, 10g tank, heater, hob filter, dechlorinater, etc.. and I have experience with reptiles and fish but turtles are just way too messy. I would have to get it a bigger tank and a way better filter or I could go drop him in a near by lake where he probably came from. I also always have crickets and worms on hand as well as guppies but I love my guppies and would hate to use them as feeders. They are soo cute as babies but not to attractive as adults in my opinion.

This is really an amazing animal. One showed up on the sidewalk of our school. All of our children came out to look at it. It didn't seem to be particularly frightened. It stretched out it's head and flared it's nostrils. When it blinked, it's eyes were so unusual. Our students are deaf, but they have learned to listen and speak with the aid of cochlear implants. This sort of real life experience is so motivating for them. It was a fabulaous learning/language experience. One of our staff returned the turtle to the bank of the water behind our complex. He took right off into the water. What a great experience.

I've never seen one of these out of the water. Great find and what a bizarre looking animal!
