Nightly Performances

For three remarkable evenings, audiences experienced the very special magic that dancers created to new choreography and favorites from individual repertoires. All pieces had been adjudicated by a panel of respected dance authorities. The first evening featured ballets created by "emerging choreographers," meaning young people or those first beginning to create dance. The second evening was a presentation of unique and varied ballets, and the final evening, the Gala, was an explosion of beauty, athleticism, and expression - the best of the best!

All of these photographs were made with a Canon 5D at ISO 1600 and a Canon 70-200 f2.8L IS lens.

these Photos are amazing I wish I was at these performances I am living I south africa and and I live 60 Km from there nerest and coolest dance school but these photos make me dream of the shows If I had the transport (like a UFO ) I wish... Hope to see more great Photos

I just got through shooting a senior dance recital. My best lens is the 70-200F4L but I mainly used the 50mm 1.8 at F2.8.. because it's faster. I'd love to get your feedback. Mine can be seen at http://www.flickr.com/photos/15493193@N00/ I resized them all smaller to make it easier to upload.

Yet another fantastic series to please the visual senses of the general public. You have once again treated us with panel that exudes quality and skill. Your style is recognisable and the presentation is en par. The delicate colours of these individual images seem to transpire gently from reds to blues and back. Each separate image is worthy of a vote from even the most demanding critics but as a whole, the “set” or panel of gems just sums up the event. You have captured the dancers' exceptional training and execution of every step with the purity, precision and energy that define ballet's academic idiom at its essence.
