On October 8, 2006 the Gwinnett Ballet Theatre Alumni and members of the pre-professional company performed "Takeoffs and Landings" at the Gwinnett Performing Arts Center.

All shots were made with a Canon 5D set at ISO 1600 using a Canon 70-200 f2.8 IS lens.

I never have understood why I've never seen one single unattractive beautiful ballerina. Boy do these shots take me back 20 years when I had three daughters taking tap and ballet lessons for over eight years. Your non-posed candid portraits are a nice departure from your other galleries. I enjoy all of your shots and you are truly with a great sense of light and timing. Each gallery keeps getting better and better. Thanks for sharing these photos with us. Yes, OK, you got my vote of confidence. You already had my vote for the gallery. I love your black and white works which grants you your legendary status as a fine art dance photographer. But... and here we go, you do have a way with colour. As a whole the gallery is a cacaphony of tones and colours but each one of them is delicate and monotonous in their own right. This may be blue, green, red or purple. The colour is a background, a base and that base has been used in perfection to make the subject stand out. Yes, in the case of dance photography, the moves and poses have been captured splendidly. From an aestetic pont of view the images are delicate yet powerful. Very sensitive and emotive. Dance is an art not unlike photography. Both require lots of practice to achive perfection even though the latter may often seem like an unachievable goal. These shots come very close to the latter. In my humble opinion these shots are perfect but my conception and understanding of perfection keeps on being moved as you manage to capture the shots better, stonger, with more emotion, with more grace and with flawless compostion and exposure with light conditions where others would have given up or resorted to flash guns. Thanks for posting and inspiring. You are one in a million to say the least.
