So many emotions are created with this image. I wonder if he
is watching a Buddy being lifted to safety and medical attention,
did they meet again, did he come home safely and whole, or...
so many other things.

I see now, that you have always shot with your heart.
Thank you, Richard my friend, for your Service
in those days. Most sincerely, cristine
A humble vote for this image and this remarkable gallery

that is a great picture from the poise of the soldier to the way the gun is held as he watched the Huey fly by thinking he could be on that for home. Lovely image.

Guest 23-Jun-2006 23:58
Another brilliant shot... it must have been surreal to live every day for a year, looking over your shoulder to see if someone was coming to kill you...
I'm 47, a bit too young for VietNam, but I salute all who served their country.
Guest 31-May-2006 14:57
wondering if he will see home

This is really awesome. It has a cinematic feel, and the light and composition are amazing. An icon of the Vietnam War.
Guest 01-Mar-2006 20:13
This whole gallery is mesmerizing, but I think I like this image best. The body language of the solider, really does make you wonder what he's thinking. Compositionally, the photo is superb; great depth of field and lighting. Bravo on a fine image and really moving series. Voted.
Guest 24-Jan-2006 04:00
Wow! Anyone who knows even a little of the role of the choppers in Vietnam has to be stunned by this one. What IS that GI thinking? -Going home? -Going home how? -Or maybe just getting back to someplace less open to harm. AC says "Quite symbolic". Indeed!
