To Les Gadula: You have obviously never lived in poverty. Would I shine shoes and clean bedding and laundry rather than starve to death and get paid for it. Yes! And I was there for 2 1/2 tours and experienced the other in childhood. I thought Army food was great.

The barracks maids (mama sans) were well paid, respected, and god forbid the person that would try to mess with them. The GI would also tip them with additional money, food and toys for their children. Their work ethic for surpassed that of the obnoxious libs that met us on the return to the "world".

For those bleeding hearts who weren't in VN the hooch maids were the same now as the house keepers of those who can afford them. I flew all day then had helicopter maintenance which left me no free time for these jobs... they were paid very well.
I left my WOMAN back there, she was going to have a baby.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK..... SHE WAS PAID BY THE GI'S........ GREAT MONEY FOR HER AND A GOOD DEAL FOR THE SOLDIERS TOO. DONT BE A DUMBASS

I can see in her eyes not only is she suffering from the war but she is also relived that she has someone there to protect her.
In this picture there is a message stating that she would clean boots anyday in trade for the war.
I do agree with the first three comments. But everyone should look at the big picture of the war.:)
