i have always felt that the photographing of sunsets and fireworks are more a reflection of chance that the photographers eye has 'seen something' that is beautiful to everyone and has caught the image on film or digital storage. In the case of fireworks "bombs bursting in air" give rise to beautiful, colorful images of symmetry and balance,
As with macro photography, there is more to meet the eye. In 1984, I took my first pictures of the inner workings of a fireworks display. This was taken with a Nikon SLR attached to a Bauch and Lomb telescope. the images were very revealing.
This time, almost 30 years later, the images were captured on a Canon EOS 1DS with a 600 mm focus lens. the images were generally taken on manual bulb, although, the next time I believe with ASA 200 max, aperature f16 or f22 and a time exposure of no more than 2 sec would be better.
The images are intriguing exhibitions of chaos with beauty but as original images are ,in my opinion, flat. Therefore post processing was performed to create an artistic image from a dry scientific finding.
