This was a field trip for the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin (www.wisconservation.org). Trip participants learned how mist-netting and banding are used for research and monitoring of birds, all while getting ID tips and up close views of these amazing creatures. 35 birds of 14 species were netted, including Scarlet Tanager, Rose-breastd Grosbeak, several Swainson's Thrushes, and six species of warblers, including lots of lots of Amer. Redstarts and a stunning adult male Golden-winged. All birds were banded by trained researchers who possessed appropriate federal and state permits.
