A Coffee Story - Fazenda Modena

This is a photo gallery about an old dream of building a 'state of the art' Robusta (Brazilian Conilon) Coffee Farm in the North of Espirito Santo State in Brazil.

Located 8 km from Linhares City (and 130 km north of Vitoria City), the property has 160 hectares, with 100 hectares of coffee plantations and 55 hectares of protected Rain Forest. One of its boundaries faces, for 500 meters, the 'Lagoa Nova' (a 27 km long natural lake) with its clear blue waters.

The coffee trees went from three Incaper's Coffee Clones of high productivity, and were planted along 4 four consecutives lines. Each of the Main Clones got its Breeders Clones planted in a fifth line (please note that all Modena's trees are NOT genetic modified). The various types of Clones and Breeders allow a harvesting period that goes from April to October and an estimated full crop of around 10.000 bags of 60 kg in a good year.

Irrigation is provided by a Linear Pivot equiped with 82 LEPA's (Low Energy Precision Agriculture) sprinklers, which provides water at a rate of 160 m3 per hour.

The Main office and Warehouses are located near the Lagoa Nova, and the Industrial Area consists of four 15,000 Lts Dryers with a complete system for drying, separation, transportation, silos and cleaning machines.

From 2012 we will be delivering a gourmet semi-washed coffee, using a cherry separation process within a fully safe environment wet system.

Modena is the first and the only "Rainforest Alliance & UTZ" certified robusta coffee farm in Brazil!!!
