Hello Raymond. I recently purchased the D300 and the 200-400 f4 VR lens. I have been out there shooting wetlands birds, i.e. raptors, eagles, waterfowl, etc. . I have just ordered a Wimberly 200 version II to use with my Bogen tripod. I've gotten a number of tack sharp images of birds in flight using the lens hand-held, on a monopod, and on the tripod. I'm hoping to increase my percentage of tack-sharp images with the Wimberly. I'm a very particular person who is less than satisfied with anything under tack-sharp.
My questions are this: 1) Can I expect the Wimberly to increase my % of tack-sharp images of in-flight birds? 2) Would I still get tack-sharp images if I added the TC-14? 3) Do you use continuous auto-focus...or single auto-focus when shooting in flight birds? I've also been somewhat frustrated with the VR when on a tripod because I can't "re"auto-focus until the VR shuts down...and by that time the bird has "flown the coop". Do you suggest turning VR off when using the Wimberly and shooting birds in flight because of this?
Thanks in advance for any advise you are willing to share.
