Jardim Botanico

The Rio Botanical Gardens were founded in 1808
and have accumulated 7,000 species of plants,
including threatened species like the pau-brazil tree.
The most striking features are the transverse avenues
of royal palms which reach an astonishing height of 30 meteres.

great images. i do love to spend some time over there, to take a walk or to photograph.
D. Joao VI, king of Portugal built this wonderful place in 1808.
