Sara and Don have dreamed of retiring to Maine for several years. After careful thought they decided instead, to take a few years to "see" the country before making such a large leap. After much research into different recreational vehicles, they decided on the fifth wheel option with a new full size truck. The truck was purchased this fall.

After looking at hundreds of fifth wheels, new and used, we visited the factory of a new company, DoubleTree RV in Lagrange IN. The company was started by the Dave Fought who founded Sunnybrook, one of the largest RV manufacturer in the country. We got a two hour personal tour of the assembly line by none other than Dave himself (founder of company, CEO and person who designed the unit). we were truly impressed. We found what we wanted at a dealer less then 20 miles from the plant and the rest is history.

The unit is 36 ft long. It is a triple slide (bedroom, dining area and entertainment center)with a gross load weight (all packed with our stuff) of 14,000 lbs. It has a full queen sized bed, with seperate shower and stool in bathroom area, six foot wide walk closet with mirror, double door refrig, convection microwave oven, double sink in kitchen. It has central air, 100 gal fresh water capacity and three stage furnance and central vac system. The unit is plumbed for a washer and dryer but we are going to take a rain check on that option. Sara would love it!!!!!!

This gallery shows our new winter home inside and out. The plan is to spend January, February and March in the south and come back to Wisconsin in April in time for apple tree pruning. Our first winter will be spent in Flordia, Gulf Shores and Texas.
