Ein kurzer Besuch in Glasgow von 3 Tagen im Januar, da Maria und ich den Flug sehr guenstig bekommen haben. Viel zu Fotografieren habe ich nicht erwartet, war aber sehr angenehm ueberrascht von den vielen wunderschoenen alten Gebaeuden, die ich gerne bei Regen und Dunkelheit mit Hilfe meines kleinen Taschenstatives aufgenommen habe. Auch eine 350 km Fahrt mit der West Highland Eisenbahn bis nach Spean Bridge war ein schoenes Erlebnis. Unser Eindruck von Glasgow und den Einwohnern, die wir kennengelernt haben, war sehr, sehr positiv. Ein lohnenswertes Ziel, selbst im Winter.

A short visit to Glasgow in January for 3 days. Not really the usual time for it, but Maria and I had a very cheap air fare. I did not expect to do a great deal of photography and was surprised by the large number of beautiful old buildings that took very well to being photographed under the normally prevailing conditions of rain and darkness. Invaluable for this was my little pocket tripod that nearly always found a support. A further highlight was a 200 mile trip on the West Highlands Railway line to Spean Bridge and return. Our impressions of Glasgow and the Glaswegians (that is what they call themselves) we were lucky enough to meet were extremely positive. We can certainly recommend Glasgow for a trip, even in winter. _______________________________________________________________________________________________
