On 12-18-09 our area of Virginia had one of the most destructive snow storms in at least 40 years. At one point early in the storm snowflakes of at least 4 inches across fell fast from the sky. Even though I didn't have a chance to measure the flakes I feel sure some were as large as 6 inches across. A sight to behold and so was the aftermath.
