The water lily – Much more than just a flower.
It is symbolic of all that is good and beautiful. It is stated that it first bloomed with the creation of the universe.

The water lily starts as a small flower down at the bottom of a pond in the mud. It grows up towards the water surface and towards the light. Once it comes to the surface of the water the lily begins to blossom and turns into a beautiful flower.

Like the lily that grows in muck but does not partake of it, the human heart should stay independent of evil thoughts and change into something more beautiful regardless of life all around them.
