Petersburg

Petersburg Union Station was built in 1910 by the Norfolk & Western Railway. It was also utilized for a number of years by the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. The station was closed in 1971 upon the formation of Amtrak, at which time passenger trains were no longer operated over the former N&W mainline through Petersburg. The station was reactivated during 1975-1977 when Amtrak operated the Mountaineer between Norfolk and Cincinnati.
