This is part of the abandoned infrastructure from the old coach tracks in Rocky Mount. The ACL maintained several sidings across from the passenger station that were used for coach storage and switching. In this photo you can see a recessed channel that would've been between two tracks. This was used to run electrical conduit along with air and water pipes in a protective manner to various connection points. Visible in this view are at least four air hose connections and two electrical connection boxes.
