This is the "new" N&W station in Welch, West Virginia. Passengers began using this facility on May 23, 1961 after the original passenger main through downtown was abandoned. It was at this time all passenger trains began using the double track mainline which passed around the downtown area through Welch Tunnel. The first train to stop here was N&W Train No. 25, the westbound Powhatan Arrow.
