A variety of gulls, including some odd ones, were staging at Lake Loveland in the city of Loveland, Larimer County, Colorado. Some digiscoped images are shown here, with emphasis on the rarer species and subspecies.

The gull flock contained 300 Ring-billed Gulls, 40 American Herring Gulls, 6 Thayer's Gulls, 5 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, a Glaucous Gull, and at least one Vega Gull.

Vega Gull is considered by the A.O.U. to be a subspecies of Herring Gull that breeds in Alaska and Siberia, and normally winters in Japan. Possibly overlooked in Colorado, it is not yet officially on the Colorado state bird list. In addition to the adult pictured below, there were two odd 2nd cycle Herring Gulls (pictured below) and one odd 1st-cycle Herring Gull (not pictured) that may be Vega Gulls.
