It saddens me that Afghanistan had so much potential, and all of it was squandered by the Taliban and the rebel fighters in the 1980's. It sickens me to remember what they did to people who were accused of crimes that they may or may not have committed. The number of women who were executed in that time was appalling. Entire families were ripped apart by their atrocities, and unfortunately it is still happening on a grand scale even to this day. May that country move forward so that they can heal from the wounds that violence has wrought on so many families in that country.
