Rav. I get your point but please realize most americans,in fact most westerners, do not agree with our government's policies which reflect the interests of the elites and not the regular person on the street.

This the slide I should have said this: The saddest day in my life was when they blew up the Buddha statues in the mountain. I had crawled throught the caves when I was 8 years old and stood on top of one...Now I can never go back and do that again...I love afghanistan and the people and I am a white boy from Arizona who wishes we could all get along. Afghanistan could open up and have tourists and I would be the first if I was not in danger. I stood atop this exact one. What a shame it was blown up, and for what...The supposedly hidden jewels inside it.

As a person who likes buddist philosophies, I hate seeing these photos as these Muslims destroying valuable heritage stuff around the world belongs to other regions. but as buddisum says anything u do bad will come back to u... people who did this are suffering big time some were killed. Well done Americans all though i don't like most of their policies.
watch out u crazy heads before u do anything which hurts other people

the trees seen in this picture, flanking the road connecting the main road to provincial headquarters across were fully cut down during Soviet occupation of the valley.
