Peacock Flower (Caesalpinia pulcherrima)

The Peacock Flower (Caesalpinia pulcherrima), so named for its bright showy flowers, is also called Barbados Pride, Red Bird of Paradise and Dwarf Poinciana in other parts of the world. It's a native of the Caribbean and belongs to the bean family (Leguminoseae). A typical legume, it bears flat pods which split when ripe to expose little brown beans.
