You had asked me for a photograph for the Earth Visions/Visiones Terrestres exhibit... I think this one would have been a good one for that. It was taken yesterday evening at sunset. It shows a whale -- likely to be a humpback whale -- in the distance breeching in front of a huge container ship. By the way one of the most amazing things I've done here is to go snorkeling. I did this to see the fantastic tropical fish, but really the most amazing thing is that when you get underwater and away from the crowds on the beach and sound of the breaking surf, and you are underwater, you can hear the song of the humpback whales almost ALL of the time. It can be clearly heard even when they seem to to be at really great distances (over a couple of miles). It sounds corny, but it really is a very spiritual thing.

Dollar short? -- well Maui is very, very expensive :-)
