Klementinum Library

Prague, Czech Republic

Every now and then (usually as I improve my photo editing skills) I like to revisit some of my older images that I didn't feel like a did the best job on in the past....

This is one example of those images, it was take at night in the the Baroque Library in the Klementinum or National Library of the Czech Republic (part of Charles University).

If I get to re-visit Prague one of the things I would love to do is photograph this library (and two others that I will post later) using my newer digital equipment. This photo was taken in extremely low light and without the use of a tripod. While I think I could do better job now -- this photo still somehow managed to capture the spectacular beauty of this space, especially the frescos which provide a "fake" huge dome on the ceiling.

This seemed to be one of the least visited sites in Prague. Not sure why it has amazing history... above the library is the astronomical tower which was home to famous astronomer Tycho Brahe (1546-1601) for the last years of his life and adjacent is the Chapel of Mirrors another spectacular space where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is said to have played during his years in Prague.
