Went for a hike today, saw nice wildlife, and brought back something like 30 ticks back to the house between me and the kids, don't even want to think about my dog who was along with us.
One of the photos I took was of this fence racer lizard. Didn't notice until I got home that it also had three ticks on his neck!! Proportionately much worse that on a human. This little guy was being incredibly "friendly" (which they usually aren't) and kept putting his head towards me.. maybe he wanted me to remove them, or wanted out of his misery.
BTW - When I got home and "Googled" lizards and ticks, I found out that Western Fence Racers (a cousin of these guys) apparently "purify" the gut of the ticks that feed on them and prevent the spread of Lyme Disease out West - hopefully these guys did something similar to the ticks that got on us today!
