The La Paz airport (El Alto) is nearly 2,000 feet higher than the city of La Paz which already sits at 12,000 feet.
Driving from the airport wich is located in the Altiplano into the city which is in a deep and fairly narrow valley,
you get spectacular view of not only La Paz but also the nearby Illimani Volcano (21,000+ feet)
