Hyperactive Angel

Botanical Gardens, Norfolk, VA

Ruby Throated Hummingbird .... I think. As I remembered these are pretty hard to photograph. Kind of makes me miss Arizona where there are many more and more types of hummingbirds, many of which are not shy at all and sometimes a bit scary in their aggressiveness, but not too scary since they weigh in at just a few grams :-)

This is a wonderful capture of a hummingbird. I'm quite sure it is a ruby throated hummingbird because I don't think there are any other varieties on the east coast. V.

They are curious about us. I have two in my garden and they come within inches of my face regularly. It is a moment that I cherish. I like this shot better than any I have ever seen. Magic, especially if you are using the 70-300 nikkor, which is what I have. A hummingbird is the Holy Grail of birding for me. I have given up , they always look like neon in my shots!
