Warragamba Dam

Somebody bring me some water..

Photo taken from the 'viewing platform' as the Dam is closed to the public!
These are the steps that lead down to the bridge which goes across the dam. I don't know what the entrance/exit is, but it goes under where they are building the 'flood outlets'(which are to the right of this image). I remember when I was 12, we had a family day out and there used to be a 'rope bridge' that went across the dam and accessible to the public...it swayed and was very scary!! I'm glad to see its gone ;-)

The Dam, the major water source for Sydney, at present is only 40% capacity!! we need water!

I also remember many family picnics, going on a tour inside the dam and the vistors center at the base of the dam. I have a picture of the dam in flood in 1986 taken at the base of the dam. They built the 1 in a 100 flood mitagation tunnels/spillway and never reopended the dam facilites without any explanation. What a pity only memories now. ~V~
