Peekaboo, Spooky, and Brimstone Slots

On our second day in Escalante we day hiked Peekaboo, Spooky, and Brimstone slots. The three slots, which are all short, dry forks of Coyote Gulch, had their own unique features and all were a lot of fun to explore. The smooth, swirled walls of Peeakboo had a pretty pink hue and features like a double arch and various potholes made it a fun hike. Spooky was more narrow and we went through most of the slot sideways. One of the hiking guides said that Spooky is not for the "exceptionally rotund" and it wasn't kidding! Brimstone had much higher walls and was very dark and significantly cooler than the others. We spent about a total of five hours hiking to the slots and exploring them.
