I started our last day in Cinque Terre with sunrise in the harbor. The subtle pastel colors were pretty and it was peaceful to see Vernazza without any people. After Steve and Norah woke up we grabbed pastries from the bakery and took the train to Manarola. We walked around the scenic town and Steve consulted the trail map. He noted even though the Coastal Trail was closed, there was a higher route we could follow to Riomaggiore that would take about an hour. I think Norah had been spoiled by so much beach time because she protested the plan, but was overruled and off we went. The trail was steep, but pretty. We had some great views and walked through small vineyards on the mountainsides. When we reached Riomaggiore we were pretty hot and sought out a gelateria for some lemon granitas and strawberry popsicles. Hit the spot! Steve consulted the map again and decided he would hike/run to Porto Venere and we would rendezvous in Manarola later in the day (I really wanted to take some sunset/nighttime pictures of Manarola).

Norah and I wandered around Riomaggiore and found a great little focaccia place. Norah had her usual plain focaccia and I opted for one with marscarpone, fig, and miele - delicious! We walked down to the small harbor with an even smaller rocky beach area which turned out to be loaded with sea glass. Since we were collecting sea glass as a souvenir this was perfect. We stayed here for a bit and took the train to Monterosso so we could do a boat ride and see the towns from the water.
