As 2013 rolled into fall we found ourselves with some extra vacation time and decided to slip in a short trip over Thanksgiving week. Tickets to Denver were cheap, so we opted to spend our time in Moab. It had been awhile since Steve and I had visited Moab and we were eager to return. We had four full days and spent most of them in Arches National Park. We had planned to spend a full day in Canyonlands, but after a morning of fog with no end in sight, we acknowledged defeat and returned to Moab.
When we arrived in Arches we found a bit of snow and I was worried how the trails would be (wet slickrock = no fun!). Fortunately by the time we hiked the trails were mostly clear and we had no issues (except for a nasty patch of slickrock on the Devil's Garden primitive loop - yikes!). We enjoyed hiking to Corona Arch, the Devil's Garden loop, and a ranger led hike in Fiery Furnace (excellent, highly recommended!). Additionally we enjoyed sunset at Delicate Arch and Balanced Rock and sunrise at Turret Arch and Courthouse Towers.
It was great to be back in Moab and we hope it's not as long before our next visit!
