Rappelling the O-S

After enjoying 15 minutes on the summit it was time to begin the descent of the Grand Teton. The standard descent route is call the Owen Spaulding. It involves some minor downclimbing for a couple hundred feet, and the a spectcular 200 foot free rappel. After the rappel one can begin to relax as the diffulties are mainly over, but there is still a long hike remaining over loose rocks. On the summit Brad and I teamed up with a couple from Colorado to do a double rope rappel which essentially extends the length of your rappel 2X, and saves a ton of time for all involved. After I completed the rappel, I was able to snap this neat photo of our partner on the "free" section. You can see Cascade Canyon in the background all the way up to Lake Solitude.
