Eventually I did make it to Columbine Pass, and the views were spectacular in all directions. This is a view back down Johnson Canyon with Columbine Lake in lower right of frame. As you can see Columbine Lake was essentially frozen solid on July 1, 2009. I had to cross a couple of very minor snowfields on the approach to the pass, but nothin to lose any sleep over.
