On our fourth day we hiked from Rifugio Vallandro to Rifugio Biella, connecting up with the Alta Via 1 trail. Book time was listed as 5 hours and we took the bulk of the day to enjoy this pretty hike. We started with a stroll to Pratopiazza and from there we had an easy climb to Croda Rossa and the highest point of the day at 2358m. We then traversed Piccolo Croda Rossa and encountered a few aided sections before stopping for lunch at the small farm Ross Alm. We climbed rocky terraces to reach Forcella Cocodain and it wasn't far from there to Rifugio Biella (2325m). Rifugio Biella was the most basic hut in which we stayed, but the staff was the friendliest and the most helpful and made our stay a pleasant one.
