It was time to head home on Monday, but we had one more stop. Norah has always been interested in the local glass blowing shop so I thought she (as well as us) might enjoy a visit to the Corning Museum of Glass. I had read positive reviews about this museum and it did not disappoint. One of the biggest attractions was their "Make Your Own Glass" program and I made sure to book this ahead of time to ensure Norah could make an ornament. This was definitely a highlight for Norah! She chose the shape, colors, and pattern of the ornament and watched closely as her glass maker demonstrated and explained the process. When it was time, Norah blew through the pipe to enlarge the ornament. She loved the experience and the final result.
The ornament was a highlight, but we enjoyed the rest of the museum as well. We read/watched the exhibits in the Innovation Lab about the history and science of glass, watched a glass breaking demo, and walked through the Contemporary Art Wing (loved the pieces here). We spent the morning at the museum and walked over the pedestrian bridge to down town Corning for lunch (the museum provides a shuttle bus, but it is not far to walk). I was impressed with the museum and really enjoyed our visit!
