Last year we enjoyed our stay in Saranac Lake for Winter Carnival and did the same this year (also a nice getaway to avoid cabin fever!). The theme this year was "Under the Sea" and despite a mid week thaw, the ice palace was ready for its lighting and firework show on Saturday night. Pretty neat! While some people went hiking (Ampersand and Algonquin), others checked out Lake Placid. The day we left, Steve, Norah, and I also made the short walk to Roaring Brook Falls. Lovely weekend!
