York

The City of York was founded by the Romans in AD 71 and has a fascinating history and architecture spanning two thousand years. A good summary of York's history may be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/York

York is also alleged to be the most haunted city in the UK and there are various 'ghost walks' (with or without actors dressed as headless horsemen etc lol) that will guide you round the various sights and sounds of 'ghostly' York.

We find that the best time to photograph the city is early in the morning, when the sunlight is less harsh with lower contrast, and before the shops have opened and the narrow streets become crowded with visitors and traffic.
