Not listening, Marrakesh, Morocco, 2006

These storks, nesting on the ramparts on the ruins of Marrakesh’s El Badi Palace, could be a mating pair. The stork on the right tries to make itself heard, while the stork on the left will hear none of it. They stand on a nest, the home of the next generation of storks. The metaphor here extends beyond our feathered friends into the nests of married couples everywhere. When it comes to raising families, humans also must learn to listen as well as speak.

Nothing changes from specie to specie, does it, Cyndy? Tuning out is truly a universal trait.

Universal body language, even in the animal kingdom. LOL.

It is a lesson I am still learning, Tim. Liz reminds me of it every day! This photograph is amusing because it is anthropomorphic -- we see these birds displaying human characteristics. They symbolize a common human flaw -- the failure to communicate.

Wonderful words of wisdom about humans learning to listen as well as speak - I find this an amusing image - it so reflects human nature - it could be the talking heads on much of our tv, or a couple trying to work out one more set of difficulties. I wish them luck.
