Patience, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, 2010

This young tourist, strapped to his father’s back, is patiently waiting for his turn at the mint ice cream in the lobby of the Old Faithful Inn. He places a hand on his dad’s shoulder, as if to remind him that he was still there, and still hungry. His expression tells the story.

Yes, the detail in that hat adds context to the image. Good eye, as always, Tim.

I like that the boy is wearing a Yellowstone cap.

Thanks, Carol. I saw patience here -- but perhaps he had already had enough of the ice cream and was in the process of digesting his indulgence? We'll never know. And that is part of the magic of photography. To ask questions and demand answers from the viewer.

Nice to see patience in a little kid for a change. That is one virtue rarely seen in children these days. Of course, ice cream would be definitely worth being patient for and even this little guy realizes it as is apparent in his expression.
