Filling the space, Kairouan, Tunisia, 2008

The narrow street, spanned by a thin arch, seems to squeeze the huge cumulous cloud that soars overhead. The scene would be lovely without it -- it becomes surreal once the cloud exerts its pressure above the tiny figures standing below the arch.

Thanks, Rose -- this is a good example of how my images often differ from Tim's in approach. He often prefers muted colors, perhaps to complement the quiet silences in his imagery. I often deliberately use a cloudy white balance on my shots which makes them warmer to complement the human values I often try to express. It is simply a matter of personal choice.

Wow! I compared your image to Tim's and both photos are astounding. I especially like your warm tones and vibrant colors. v
