I got an email from my hiking pal Skip Pudney inviting me to join him and Jim Fowler for hike to Green Swamp. Last year I told Skip I wanted to do a late season fieldtrip to photograph Carolina grass-of-parnassus, a rare native wildflower. It was my first visit to the GS this late in the season. As Jim mentioned on his Pbase gallery, we really didn't know what to expect. The prolong drought has left areas typically covered in water as dry land so would there be much of anything in bloom? The answer: a definte yes. The floral displays continued to show off nicely. We were not disappointed.
