Tropical Storm Irene Hit Vermont

On August 29, 2011 tropical storm Irene hit Vermont, It did a lot of damage and I want to share some images I took two weeks later while I was visiting friends up there. Fortunately for my friends, they suffered no damage but that can't be said for others. As of today (Sept 23) there is only one road (part of Route 107 near Stockbridge and Pittsfield) that is not usable but the state plans to have that fixed within a couple of weeks.
If you had plans to go to Vermont for fall foliage, do it! The trees and mountains are still there and you "can get there from here" without more than a few minutes delay on the roads as the crews work very hard to get the roads back to normal. The businesses in Vermont will need your support more now than ever to try to recoup what they lost because of the storm.
My new favorite brewery is now Long Trail Brewing because when the storm hit they pitched in big time! Because they had generators for their business, they cooked food and flew it out by National Guard helicopter to folks who were cutoff by the storm.

NEVER challenge Mother Nature with water - you loose every time!
