The Fire Hydrant

This fire hydrant is a stark reminder of what happened that morning. There is some good news though: the two volunteer firefighters, Ted Scardino and Joseph Hofstetter, who were shot are now back home and on their long road to recovery. The off duty police officer who was cut by glass when his car windshield was hit as he just happened to be driving by on his way to work is ok. There are two additional heroes in this event – both Webster Police officers. One tried to rescue the fallen firefighters and the other used his long gun to return fire at the suspect. It was reported that the shooter had around 400 rounds with him when he was found dead on the beach of a self inflicted gun shot wound next to the berm he used as cover to ambush the firefighters. Guess he didn’t count on any resistance – he guessed wrong and that officer’s actions probably saved lives that morning. The shooter had a note on him stating how he obtained the Bushmaster and shotgun (he was a convicted felon and is not allowed to have weapons). That person is now facing State and Federal charges for lying when buying the guns. The note also stated the shooter wanted to burn the whole neighborhood down and kill as many people as he could. Thank God he’s dead. The previous two images were also taken today.
