Not Password Protected

I have been seeing a lot of visible password protected galleries lately. Some explain a reason for the protection and offer a way to get the password, or put it in the gallery name. Others I found use the gallery name as the password, I am not sure if this is on purpose or laziness.

What I don't understand are visible password protected galleries with no reason given, or even worse they say don't ask for the password. Why they would make the gallery visible when they are going to send someone the password anyway? Why not also send them the link to a non-visible gallery?

My personal solution is upon seeing a password protected gallery is to look for a reason and if none is given simply kill the tab, hopefully never to return.

250 hits in 2 days, that is 10 times my other galleries in 2 weeks. And yet not one comment in agreement with me. I am assuming that my gallery was on a forum somewhere because using the gallery name as a password no longer works.

I now have a new thing to rant about. I have been coming across password protected galleries that show as a regular gallery with a thumbnail. Why people do this extra option is beyond me. I do know the reasons for this option.

Even better, 900+ hits and now the thumbnail is dead.
