That is one of the two "Hush houses" on base for running aircraft after 10pm at full power.
They were built circa '87-'88. I was station at GAFB from '86 to '90.

Hal, that was not the ADC facility, which was on the approach end of RWY 21, which I would frequent as duties required. This was a test bay that was on the NE side of the tarmac that the maintenance troops used for work on the F-4's. I was there through 1979-80, working in the Wing Command Post.

Debbie. This pic is dated Dec 1970 and I was stationed there from 1966-1970 in firefighting/crash rescue. I did many hours of ramp patrol but I don't remember much of anything at the corner of the base and Adelanto except for the runup pads and desert out there. I may be mistaken but I THINK this is the ADC (Air Defense Command) hanger about as far away from Adelanto as you can get. It was a stand alone hanger that housed 2 ready to scramble F-106's (during my time) and was out in the boone docks away from the rest of the squadrons. Lots of good times at George, really sad to see the state its in now.

Ah, yes -- it's been so long ago, but I seem to remember somewhat. Wasn't this located just on the way into Adelanto?
