Michael thanks for sharing your work. I enjoyed your photographs immensly. I see a lot of photoraphs of Brownsville here which I really enjoyed. Thanks for the posts and keep up the great work!
I really like your artistic eye and the diversity of subject matter. I'm from Georgia, but have been in Houston "temporarily" since last April. I wish I had found your site sooner because it has given me some image ideas. One question: can you offer suggestions on the best place to take pictures of the downtown Houston skyline?
Thanks for the inspiration,
'if you have any more pictures of the U.S.S. San Deigo AFS-6. U.S.N.S. San Deigo T-AFS-6 please contact me as I am very interested in them as I served on the San Deigo and we are having our renioun soon
I've enjoyed viewing your fine images. This's an excellent pictures. Please sharing your pics in Canada. Your country is very beautiful nature. I'm looking for seeing someday. Thank you very much for sharing.

Seeking photo taking tips!! We are off to England in 2 weeks and seeking photo taking tips. Got any?
JoAnn (your sister)
Great photos - thanks for sharing - do you or does anyone on your blog know where I can find the largest archives of historic photos of Brownsville? Am coming to Brownsville the weekend of Feb 26th and I am looking for an old photo of Records House of Music located at 1020 Elizabeth Street which operated from about 1928 to 1935 and may have been next to J. C. Penneys? Ralph R. Records sold pianos and Columbia grafanolas (phonograph players) at his store as well as old phonograph records - His name was Records and he also sold them - HA ! thanks Randy
I just looked through some of your galleries, esp the blogs- love your photos, you've inspired me!!
Thanks for sharing all your wonderful pictures! I am from Brownsville and your gallery of photos helped me share some Brownsville memories with my husband.
Most interesting collection of things that float ...

Your gallary is wonderful! The CSS design is also nice, thanks a lot
Your photos are wonderful.
Best regards, Michal
You have many fine galleries, Mike. For reasons unknown, this is my first exposure to your work--but definitely not the last.
While I really liked some of your recent work (esp the approach and goodbye to Ike), it is your "oldie" shots of Newfoundland that I like best. I have been fortunate enough to have visited the rock half a dozen times over the years (once for 6 weeks) but that was in the days when I wasn't doing much photography. It's been far too long since I've been there; your photos helped intensify the longing to return.
15Sept2008 - Power back up at 12:45pm.
Well...electricity went out at 10:30 pm Friday as Hurricane Ike was about to hit Galveston. It is now Sunday 9:20 pm and still no power. Hopefully, it will be up soon. So for friends and family, we're okay and waiting for life to get back to some sort of normal.
Micheal, I have only looked at few and am amazed at your skill in capturing the images. I intend to return and take my time walking thru your gallery. Pat
Mikey, You never cease to amaze me.. the photos are beautiful and are proudly displayed on my desktop. Love your sister, JoAnn
If only there could be more talented people like you on pbase...

Hi Michael I googled my last name and your picture of Jilote Net Shop came up. I thought how ironic any ways the shop belongs to my dad. Nice shot wish I was still taking photos like that.Bet it would look great in black and white.
MICHAEL: I'VE ENJOYED LOOKING AT YOU'RE PHOTOS. I LIVED NOT FAR FROM WHERE YOURE NOW ONLY 150 MILES UP THE RIO GRANDE RIVER IN WEBB CO. MY FORMER TOWN WAS BRUNI IN EAST WEBB CO. HOPE YOU WILL POST MORE PHOTOS OF THE SHIPS BEING TOWED IN FOR SCRAPPING. Wow, that is one terrific cloud picture on the front page ! A lot of impact.
Very Impressive PBase site. Thanks for the help on changing CSS sheets in the forum. It took me a while for the process to sink in - to figure out all the steps. Now I can start playing around; your site is an inspiration.

Hello Michael, I would totally miss fall living where you are now...I so understand how you miss Canadian autumn... as you say, no winter "fun" that we have here by Lake Michigan : ) I'll definitely record snowy scenes that soon will be here for you in mind...Keep creating as you DREAM~~~DARE~~~DIVE ON!!! Have an awesome one, John : )
I saw a photo of yours of the USS Roark on another web site that you took back on June 6, 2006. I am sure you have been asked this many times, but do you have other pictures of the Roark? Are any of these photos of her being cut down to size or can you tell me is any part of her still around? She was my first ship and I served on her from 74-75. I was on her when she went into the shipyard in Long Beach, Ca for her first overhaul cycle and I can honestly say that she never looked that bad.
I hope you keep taking photos of these proud & mighty warships on their final voyages.
Michael - We're noting the passage of Des Moines in our next issue and would like to use your photo of her entering Brownsville channel and posted on the cruiser's website, which we would credit to you.
Ships Monthly (www.ipcmedia.com)
I live in the Philly area and have seen the USS DES MOINES from I95 and while I visited the Old Philadelphia Navy Yard. Could you provide additional pictures of the old gal while she is being recycled.. It too bad that she was not saved. Hopefully, at min the steal does not find its way to China. Thanks!
I just wanted to comment that your pictures are great, espcially the ones of Corpus Christi!
The ones you have to the sun rising and setting are the best!
Keep it up!
You do South Texas Proud!!
I would like permission to use your photos of the Rodgers, Moosbrugger and Hancock to add to the Navsource.Org site that contains pictures of all US Navy ships. These pictures will show the end of those ships and it is a vital piece for the folks that served on them to see where they went. I will credit you for the photos (they are great pictures). Please let me know. Thanks!
I just came across your photos of the cruiser Des Moines and destroyers John Rodgers, John Hancock and Moosbruger at Brownsville, TX. They are GREAT. I served on John Rodgers back in the the early 1980's so it was a bit sad to see her in the shape she now is in. I was wondering if you have any other images of ships in the process of being scrapped (or recycled as they now call it)? Would it be possible to obtain a copy of the photos of the above ships and any others you may have of warships being scrapped at Brownsville? Thank you for your time.
Hi Uncle Mikey!
I Haven't been in touch with you in a while. Everyone is doing well. Robby has two boys...Ethan and Austin.
I am now living in Fort McMurray, Alberta teaching at a high school.
These are great pictures.
I just viewed your photograph of USS John Rodgers tied up in Brownsville. I agree it is sad to see her that way. USS John Rodgers was my first TAD assignment while I was in the Navy and I spent a six-month deployment on board in 1993. I was wondering if it would be possible to get a copy of that photograph from you. Thank you for your time and keep up the good work.
At first, I was planning on just replacing my Olympus D-370 that I use at work. It is in rough shape...still works fine..but is just 1.2MP and now you can buy a Kodak 4MP at Circuit City for $85 or so.
So that was the idea. I went to Circuit City to have a look at the Kodak. I decided that maybe it would be better to get a good point and shoot to replace the Nikon, which, like I said has fallen on tough times. I recently went to a wedding and the Nikon failed miserably...I have about 8 good 2300+ mAhr NiCad, yet the Nikon drains them in minutes, or it thinks the batteries are dead (Firmware problem). So, I went looking for a new point and shoot for mainly me, but also for my wife...who doesn't want to bother with the DSLR. The Lumix TZ1 is top of the line with it's equivalent 35 - 350mm zoom Leica lens. The reviews where about 95% positive, so I decided to go for it. I had read somewhere that Panasonic had teamed up with Olympus so I felt comfortable with the technical capability of the Lumix. In my opinion, Nikon dropped the ball with it's non-DSLR cameras.
Anyway, that's the long and short of it. Thanks for the interest.
Why did you decide on the Panasonic TZ1 rather than another Nikon to replace the 3100? Guess it was the somewhat compact size and image stabalizer..
You probably used the heck out of the Coolpix 3100, are you going to keep it or sell it?
i am looking for info about the E-500
are you satisfied with this dslr and its lens kit ??
thanks a lot
Dear Michael. Many Thanks. From Mogens.V.Jensen.
I am constructing a web page of Newfoundland and Labrador and am looking for images. Your's are great. May I use them if I include you as the photographer?

I am planning a trip to Laguna Atascosa and found your images via google. They are great. I'm hoping to kayak along the waterways in the NWR and Laguna Madre, and would appreciate your suggestions on best places to put in (I only have one day the end of this month while visiting relatives in Harlingen, and want to find the 'best' place to paddle).
Thanks. Gary D Martin, Austin, Texas 2/13/2006
Your work is really great! There's three photos that caught my eye, and if you could let me know the specific locations I'd greatly appreciate it!
